Consider the waters flowing in a river. This certainly is motion as long as the rivers flow. How long is perpetual? The life of a man, or a river??? Man uses this motion to power water mills that produce flour, lumber or run a small factory. These mill ponds will run until the machinery breaks or the water ceases to flow. If the mill pond runs for 50 to 100 years, why not call it perpetual motion? Some mill ponds still operate and are much older than 100 years.
